Want to know more about my lifestyle family + newborn photography sessions?

Q.  What can I expect at my session?

A.  Sessions with me are a fun way to capture the unique connections between the members of your family.  My goal is to capture your family interacting, laughing, playing and generally just being who you are as a family.  I won't be asking you to pose so if that's what you're looking for then I'm probably not the gal for you!  I will do my best to get a few of those portrait shots for the grandparents and holiday cards but that's not the focus of our session.  Our focus will be having fun!  Real moments, real smiles, real memories.

Q.  Where will my session take place?

A.  Your family session can be at your favorite outdoor location - whether that is a local park, playground, beach, fishing spot or even your own backyard is up to you!  Fresh 48 sessions will take place at your hospital or birthing center.  And in-home newborn sessions will take place ... do I really need to say it ... in your home.

Q.  What should we wear?

A.  Well, I could answer that any number of ways because there really are so many options.  But let me channel my inner Clinton Kelly and start off by mentioning what not to wear (remember that show? eek, did I just date myself?).  Avoid clothes with large logos or words written on them.  Please do not all wear the same color or matching outfits.  Each person in your family is an individual with their own personality so let's see those differences shine!

Generally, people like the look of coordinating outfits.  Pick a color palette of 3-5 complimentary colors and incorporate those colors into your outfits.  You can definitely add some prints for visual interest - but if you have one person in say a large gingham print, then maybe incorporate a smaller plaid print, thin stripes or a floral print on another person.  Layers are also always a nice look - so think vests, scarves, jean jackets or half-zip pullovers.  Feel free to layer some interesting jewelry by stacking necklaces or bracelets.  Keep in mind, however, that you do not need to coordinate.  I have many clients (and you'll see them in my galleries) who just wear whatever is comfortable.  And you know what?  The photos are amazing.  It's a casual look that totally works because what shines through when you hire me is the emotions and connections.

So honestly, don't stress too much about outfits.  If all your child will wear is UnderArmour, then let's go with that.  You'll always remember this (somewhat less fashionable) stage of their life and one day you will laugh about it together.

Q.  What if my kids refuse to cooperate?

A.  Children usually have their own agenda and sometimes that doesn't include sitting and smiling nicely for photos. They may be shy.  They may misbehave.  Siblings may squabble.  But just as you handle these situations in your daily life, so do I during a photoshoot!  Just leave it up to me.  This is one time where when your child is having a tantrum you get to just walk away and let someone else bribe them ... er, I mean handle it.  My goal is for you to stay positive because your child will respond to your mood.  I'll get them to come around and will capture the awesome kid that you normally see.

Q.  My husband isn't too thrilled about this...

A.  Sometimes that happens!  Whether it is a husband, a teenager or any other member of your family who just isn't into it - I promise they'll warm up.  See those happy smiling faces on these pages?  Many of them weren't that excited about having their photo taken at first either. But those smiles look real because they are real.  So don't worry. Let me do my thing.  We'll have fun.  I promise.

Q.  When will I be able to view my photos?

A.  I will edit your photos and send you a link to your online gallery within 2-3 weeks of our session.  Please note that galleries only stay active for 4 weeks so make sure you download your images.

Q.  I can't wait for my session - what's next?

A.  See that little button down there?  Scroll on down... yup, saw it didn't ya?  That's how you book a session.  So drop me a line and we will set up a time and date.  I will require a non-refundable $100 deposit in order to hold your session date.

Please note that I limit the number of sessions I shoot in any given month.  If time of year is important to you, be advised that some months (I'm looking at you September and October) book way in advance.  However, while fall foliage may be lovely, remember that anytime is a good time to capture your family's memories.  After all, it isn't about the colors in the background but rather, it's the connection and love between you all that matters most and makes the images meaningful.
